mileage rates for employees, volunteers, and ministers

January 2024

The IRS released an update for mileage information for 2024. You can read all about that at IRS.Gov, and we have the details below for the most pertinent information for our clients.

The IRS has announced an increase to the standard mileage rate for business miles driven for 2024:  67 cents per mile (previously 65.5 cents per mile).  The change is effective January 1, 2024.  The 14.0 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations remains unchanged.

You may visit at IRS.Gov for additional information concerning the standard mileage rates, or direct any questions about the change to your MM Client Services Representative, and they will be happy to answer them!

The staff of MM have created a form for employees or volunteers to record their mileage. That form – along with many others – can be found on our Resources page under Travel Expense Reimbursement Form.

If you would prefer an app instead of a paper form, visit our post on Tracking Apps to see how you can still comply with correct backup documentation.

A Note for Ministers

There are different ways to reimburse ministerial mileage, and one way that we strongly recommend. You can see those thoughts in our white paper on Automobile Usage for Pastors.

You may direct any questions about the change to your MM Client Services Representative, and they will be happy to answer them!
