Fraud Prevention

With annual ministry fraud now cresting at over 80 billion dollars annually (yes, b as in billion) 10% more than all funds spent on world wide missions, its time to understand the real and present danger of fraud in ministry.

We are here to meet you in whichever stage of Fraud your ministry finds themselves in: Prevention, Detection, or Prosecution.

Prevention:

We offer an excellent book “Confessions of a Church Felon” that is a complete guide to detecting and more importantly preventing fraud specifically in ministry.

We also offer training classes to help the ministry establish cost effective layers of protection to reduce the risk of fraud.

In addition to the classes and printed resources, MM can also provides a Fraud Risk Assessment Consultation where a MM Certified Fraud Examiner can perform a basic risk assessment, not to determine if fraud has taken place, but rather assess the exposure or the areas where fraud could take place. This can serve as a basis for other decisions that might need to be made.

Detection:

In the event there is a suspicion of fraud, it is always advisable to consult with a trained and certified professional to engage the situation effectively and legally.

If the ministry is concerned about possible fraud, we recommend beginning with the Fraud Risk Assessment noted above. If the risk assessment determines possible exposure points, and/or fraud has been detected, then we recommend beginning with a 2 hour consultation to review the situation and formulate a basic action plan to deal with the situation.

If the ministry desires an investigation, MM trained professionals can be engaged to perform an investigation.

Prosecution:

In some cases, depending on the size and scope of the fraud, the ministry, insurance company and or law enforcement may want to engage in a full forensics’ investigation. While time consuming and expensive, MM has a team that can perform this level of service if needed.
