Psalm 23
New month means another MM Chapel time. For those who are new, you can start here with the why behind having these each month. For those who are all caught up, here are some notes from our September Chapel.
Our speaker this month encouraged us to read through Psalm 23 slowly sometime during the day. And he also shared with us specific things to take a moment to focus on.
What does the passage teach about God? And what does it teach us about ourselves?
- The LORD: covenant name of God
- My shepherd: who leads, guides, and directs
- Shall not want: all our needs are met
- Walk through the valley of the shadow of death: trust & cast our cares on Him
- Dwell in the house of the Lord: forever
This passage alone can teach us about God’s provision. That he supplies our needs (not wants) with our greatest need being our separation from Him because of our sin.
Some things it might say about us include our need for a Shepherd. Without Him we are like lost sheep who have gone astray. When we stay near to the Good Shepherd, we can see better that we can trust Him, that He provides for us, and we can depend on Him.
