Company History. During our celebration year here at Miller Management, we’ve been telling the history of our company. Today, we wanted to share more about the world at that time.

In part one of this mini-series, we are going to step back in time for a few minutes. Back to a more simpler time. Back to 1989…

Fashion:

For those that weren’t around in the late eighties, early nineties – or for those who have repressed those memories and burned the pictures – here is a little taste of the fashion during Miller Management’s starting year.

Not to leave out those #90skids, here is a snapshot of some popular toys in 1989. Also, note the price tags associated with both the clothing and kid’s items.

Culture:

Some of us will be sad to look at this list of musicians. “They just don’t make music like this anymore.” Some of us will have several lyrics going through our heads, or at least see the music video in our minds. {Thanks, MTV.} And some of us will just be happy that, well, that they don’t make music like this anymore. (Or do they? Looking at you Madonna and Garth Brooks.) 🙂

For those college students going back to school this semester, this one’s for you. Even after the actual research came out, the term “Freshman 15” still stayed. And now, years later, research suggests students still aren’t gaining 15 pounds. So maybe the phrase has stuck because it makes the pounds that we actually gain not feel so significant? Hmm, well played, Seventeen, well played.

Lastly, for this post, one of our favorite sounds…”you’ve got mail.” Now-a-days that could get a little overwhelming if that sound went off with every email you received…yikes!

Also, can we pause for a moment to reflect on the cassette, and how they revolutionized the in-car music experience? For those that are too young, here is a Wikipedia article for you.
