The Top Ten+ Reasons NOT to outsource your accounting to Miller Management…
10) We like the risk of losing our current and historical payroll, accounting, and contributions data.
9) We have a lot of extra money, so we don’t mind paying annual software maintenance fees & check stock costs, etc.
8) We like the idea of having our accounting practices being questioned and getting all the press on the front page of the local newspaper. We live by the motto “All free publicity is good exposure!”
7) Degreed accountants, CPA’s, MBA’s, CFE’s . . . who needs that kind of expertise?
6) We don’t want to know too much about internal controls and “best practice” procedures, because then we might have to change ours! Besides, we like the risk of possible misuse of funds.
5) Separation of duties? Of course we have that. Our pastor does the preaching, our music minister does the worship music, etc.
4) We know too much already about federal and state regulations!
3) We like the monthly hassle of bank reconciliations and producing financial statements.
2) We like the risk of dealing with accounting personnel turnover. It’s fun to think about.
……Drum roll please……
1) If we tie up our staff and volunteer time with bookkeeping and accounting functions, we can spend less time with congregation members and reaching people for God’s Kingdom!
BONUS
We like using a company that hasn’t been in business for 30 years!
