Know Your Limits

Unlike superheroes, we all have limits.

Our speaker for our February chapel time pointed out we should lean into those limitations. We all need to sleep, eat, and we really can’t do it all. Whatever “it” is. Honestly, we aren’t called to do it all either.

Yes, we know these things, but are we still trying to avoid our limitations? Here are some key questions to ask to know if you are avoiding or leaning into your limits.

Is there a regular rhythm of sabbath {rest} in your life?

Do you rely on your own strength for each task?

Are you letting your emotions dictate your course, speech, and life?

One reason we don’t like limits is because we don’t always trust the one who put the limits into place.

We may have a trust deficit in our society today, as this Gallup poll shows. With clergy not ranking very high. Don’t worry, businesses didn’t either.

Let’s work towards turning that table this year. Lean into our limitations and not try to be the superhero. See what kind of trust gap we can close in the coming year.

“We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.”

Each month the MM staff gather for a time of worship and a message. We call them our monthly Chapel times, and we’ve been having them since 2017. We invite area pastors and worship leaders into our space and they speak truth into us to start our month off right. This excerpt was from February’s speaker.
