2022 Service Project
This year’s service project was another success. Getting to help one of our clients shine up their space to get ready for their clients.
Their average client is a twenty-something who has come to a crossroads in her life. She recently found out (or suspects) she is pregnant. But also knows she is without much financial or emotional support. She has lots of questions, but is unsure what her next step should be.
Enter Liberty Women’s Clinic.
The Organization
The judgement free (and also clean and calm) space where she can go for help. One on one. She may even get to see her baby. She will definitely be able to find out answers to her basic questions. And probably get a cookie (or a hug) from one of their awesome volunteers.
Some clips from the day:
Client Facts:
- 75% of their clients are having financial
- 85% are single
- many already have another child
- most make their decision within 11 days of finding out they are pregnant
- 8 out of 10 women choose life after they see their sonogram
LWC Fun Facts:
- opened their doors over 20 years ago
- recently moved to upgrade their space and provide more services to their clients
- both of their sonogram machines were donated
- many of their office workers are volunteers but they work with licensed OBGYNs
- they work with other organizations like: Love Inc, Hilcrest, and WIC
- according to their exit surveys, they have a 95% approval rating
- they are a 501c3 and most of their funding is provided by individual or organization donations (Missouri offers a pregnancy resource center tax credit for individuals.)
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention how YOU can be involved with LWC, if you feel inspired. They have a L.I.F.E. volunteer program. Labor (physical help). Influencer (support on social media). Facilitate (assist with fundraising events). Engage (devote your time and abilities). Plus, there is a Friends of LWC app (Android or Apple) where the clinic pushes prayer requests out so volunteers can pray for someone in that moment. Maybe when she needs it the most.
Past MM Service Days:
You may notice that most staff have some form of volunteering in their bios. But this group service project day started as a new endeavor for Miller Management a few years ago, in 2018. We went to another women’s clinic in 2019. And we had to get a little more creative for 2021. We have so many great organizations that could be our next volunteer day, which one will we choose? Stay tuned to find out.
